About the Grantee Partnership Project
The Department of Health and Social Services, Rasmuson Foundation, Mental Health Trust, Mat-Su Health Foundation, and the Foraker Group, along with many partnering committee members have been working diligently to realign the Department and grantee's efforts toward our shared goals of providing high quality services to the citizens of Alaska. The overall goal of this project is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of DHSS grant-making processes in order to:
- Reduce administrative burden for DHSS while ensuring adequate fiduciary control;
- Increase grantee/customer satisfaction; and
- Reduce the administrative burden for grantees to interface with the state.
- Coordinate with Grantee Partners to identify outcomes of success and methods of services delivery to Alaska citizens.
New Grantee Council
With the end of the Grantee Partnership Project grant with the Rasmuson Foundation on June 30, 2012, the Department of Health and Social Services also ended the project’s Steering, Internal, and Grantee Relations / Streamlining Committees, which oversaw the project’s outcomes. To ensure DHSS continues to maintain and improve on what has already been accomplished; DHSS has created a “Grantee Council”.
The Grantee Council will act in the same manner as the three committees and includes some of the same members. The Grantee Council is made up of DHSS, Grant Program Coordinators, Administrative Operational Managers, Grant Administrators, Deputy Commissioner, and Grantee Partners. Having a broad range of council members, with direct working knowledge of the grant processes, is crucial for ensuring work under this project continues.
By keeping an eye on all avenues of the grant process and making recommendations on how to continue to improve the grant management and administration, DHSS expects to further reduce the administrative burden on grantees and DHSS staff while continuing to improve grantee outcomes and relations to better support Alaska citizens.
