Elgee appointed as Assistant Commissioner of Finance and Management Services

(Anchorage, AK) — Alaska Health and Social Services (DHSS) Commissioner Bill Hogan today announced Alison Elgee has been appointed Assistant Commissioner for Finance Management Services.

“We are excited to have someone with Alison’s breadth of experience in state government and in the private sector joining our team,” Hogan said. “Her expertise in finance, budgeting, management, and administration will help us achieve our mission to promote and protect the well-being of Alaskans.”

Elgee has extensive experience in Alaska, serving for eight years as the Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Administration. She also coordinated the budget development and process for the University of Alaska as the Director of Budget. Her private sector experience includes work as a business consultant specializing in government affairs, public finance and long-term care. Most recently, she was a legislative aide to Rep. Reggie Joule in the Alaska Legislature, where she advised Rep. Joule on legislative and financial issues. Elgee has a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho.

As Assistant Commissioner, Elgee will oversee all functions and activities related to budget, fiscal, revenue, information technology, facilities, administrative services, and grants and contracts.

Elgee will start work on Sept. 22, 2008, and will be based out of Juneau, Alaska.
