The Advisory Board on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (ABADA) has 15 board members, including 14 public members appointed by the Governor and the director of the Division of Behavioral Health serving as ex officio. Public members consist of one member licensed to practice medicine in the state, one who is admitted to practice law in the state, four members in recovery of a substance use disorder (SUD), three treatment professionals representing both public and private providers of SUD prevention and treatment services, and five members with an interest in or with knowledge of social problems associated with SUD.
