Partnerships For Success

The Alaska Partnerships for Success (PFS) initiative, funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), supports an evidence-informed approach to prevent and reduce the non-medical use of prescription opioids (NMUPO) and heroin use in Alaska communities through use of the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF). This initiative will support the implementation of sustainable environmental and educational strategies to increase prevention capacity in funded Alaskan communities and effectively address NMUPO and heroin use.
Substance abuse is a complex problem that requires coordinated, evidence-informed solutions. Our guidance document, Prevention of Non-Medical Use of Prescription Opioids and Heroin Use in Alaska, is intended to help guide PFS-funded communities in Alaska through the SPF planning process to develop and implement effective, data-driven, and culturally competent strategies that will have a measurable and sustained effect on NMUPO and heroin use at the community level.
