Frontier Community Services has been the home of the Kenai Peninsula FASD program since 2000 when theinitial six members were trained at the University of Washington and the first diagnostic clinic was held. Since then, the team has diagnosed over 300 people, ranging in age from 3 weeks to 56 years. The program's primary service area is the greater Kenai Peninsula, but referrals from all over Alaska are accepted.
The Kenai Peninsula FASD Program is deeply committed to educating the community regarding prevention of FASD and interventions for individuals who experience FASD. Members of the diagnostic team are certified trainers and are available for a variety of educational opportunities. Community workshops featuring national experts on FASD are offered annually.
Team members include Vickie Tinker, Team Coordinator; Marguerite McIntosh, MD, team physician; Gloria Stuart, Parent Advocate; Donna Shirnberg, Speech Language Pathologist; and Dr. Jacqueline Bock, Psychologist.
