Children’s Dental
Alaska Medicaid and Denali KidCare cover most emergency and routine preventive dental services for recipients who are under age 21; specified restorative and prosthetic dental services are covered as well. Specific covered services include exams, X-rays, scaling, polishing, fluoride treatment, sealants, dentures, crowns, caps, root canals, and oral surgery. Some services may require your dentist to obtain prior authorization before providing the service.
Limited orthodontic services provided by a board-eligible or board-certified orthodontist may be covered for limited conditions that require the services of an orthodontist and an oral surgeon, such as cleft palate and severe skeletal malformations.
