    InstantAtlas Health Profiles

    InstantAtlas health profiles are a data visualization mechanism to make state, regional, and community health data readily accessible using an intuitive, informative, and interactive interface. Visual indicators of color, size, location, and direction augment numerical and categorical data to help understand health risks, disparities, and disease prevalence in Alaska. All information is available in both graphic and tabular formats.

    WHAT'S NEW!

    This version of InstantAtlas presentations contains:

    1. Results by 11 behavioral health systems regions for the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) for 2003-2015;
    2. Results by school districts for the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) for 2003-2015;
    3. Student Weight Status Surveillance System (SWSSS) with Body Mass Index categories for participating School Districts;
    4. Comprehensive data on Infectious Diseases for 1994-2013 with counts and rates. Breakdowns by Alaska Native and non-Alaska Native and females and males when there are sufficient data;
    5. BRFSS data are now displayed with an increased number of health indicators (383) and 25 years encompassing 1991 through 2015;
    6. BRFSS uses raking weights from 2007 onward to better adjust for race and socio-economic status of respondents using current Alaska bridged race population estimates (see description);
    7. Results by major racial groupings of white and Alaska Native are incoporated into most presentations;
    8. Use of three-year averages over up to nine years to increase health indicators available for boroughs/census areas and tribal health regions;
    9. Special maps of major influences on health (e.g., disability and age 65+).
