Women's, Children's and Family Health
The Mission of Women’s, Children’s and Family Health is to promote optimum health outcomes for all Alaskan women, children, teens and their families:
The programs in this section stress improving the health status of and assuring health service access for present and future generations of Alaskan women of all ages and their families, pregnant women and their infants and, children and adolescents, with a particular focus on children with special health conditions, those with low income status and those with limited access to health services.
One of our section goals is to work with other health care and community support services to assure they are organized in ways that allow for flexibility to address the changing and varied needs of families and support time in their natural care-giving roles.
The mission reflects the overall intent of Title V MCH Block Grant under Title V of the Social Security Act of 1935 as outlined by the Human Resource Service Administration. This act outlines the goals which include providing and assuring mothers and children have access to quality maternal and child health services; reducing infant mortality; reducing the incidence of preventable diseases; and reducing disabling conditions among children.
